Olympian Kwesi Browne Honored at Nehemiah Plan Rally 2024 | Trinidad and Tobago District
The Church of the Nazarene Trinidad & Tobago recognized the accomplishments of cyclist, Kwesi Browne, at its Nehemiah Plan Rally on November 10, 2024.
Kwesi Browne’s journey in cycling began at the young age of 9, when he spent a day watching his cousin attend cycling trials. Though he participated in other sports like football, swimming, and track and field, none captivated him the way cycling did. At 16, Kwesi qualified for his first national team, competing at the Junior Pan American Games in Mexico City – a pivotal moment that set the course for his storied career.
Since then, Kwesi has been a fixture on Trinidad and Tobago’s national cycling team, representing his country regionally and internationally. His trophy case boasts numerous medals from the CAC Games, Pan American Championships, and National Championships. The crowning achievement, however, has been qualifying for the Olympic Games – an ultimate dream he has realized twice, competing in both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics.
Kwesi embodies the virtues of discipline, sacrifice, determination, and humility. He credits his success to the blessings of God and the unwavering support of his family. While his journey has faced challenges, Kwesi continues to defy the odds through his steadfast faith. When not training or competing globally, he can be found faithfully serving as an usher at his local Guanapo Church of the Nazarene, where his love for the Lord and joy in service are evident.
The award was presented to Kwesi by his pastor, Rev. Alicia Baptiste.
